The Skipper

Owner/operator Colin Tecofsky learned to fish as a young child and has been into fishing ever since.

Photo of the Skipper

Colin is a vastly experienced in both salt and fresh water fishing having spent the majority of his life working as a commercial fisherman, charter operator and fishing guide. For over 14 years, Colin operated a charter and guiding service on Lake Taupo, the Tongariro river and the central plateau lakes and rivers. During this time he guided many of the clients of one of New Zealands most prestigious trout fishing lodges, Tongariro Lodge, to their catch of a lifetime and other clients to win many of the early Lake Taupo fishing competitions. He then spent a few years fishing commercially before setting up Fish and Dips Charters in 2001. Since then a number of his clients have won significant prizes in various fishing competitions.

Some of Colins' most memorable personal catches include a 5.5Kg rainbow trout, a 6.5kg brown trout, a marlin on a fly, a 30Kg Kingi and a number of snapper in the 20-30lb range. But he gets the most enjoyment out of seeing his clients achieve personal fishing bests. His love of all types of fishing make him the ideal person to guide you on your endeavour to catch the fish of your dreams.
